About Alexandra Jacobs, IBCLC
Hi there! I’m Alexandra Jacobs, an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and the founder/owner of Interlude Lactation. My background is in early childhood development & education and I have been working alongside families for over 15 years as a teacher & teacher trainer, nutrition educator, and lactation counselor & consultant. I’m grateful that you’re considering working with me for your lactation & infant feeding needs.
I became interested in and started learning more about breastfeeding while working as a nutrition educator in infant & young child feeding. My lactation career began in 2021, when I earned my Certified Lactation Counselor credential and went on to facilitate a peer-to-peer lactation support group for over two years. During those two years, I completed the qualifying lactation education & supervised clinical hours and sat for board examination, earning my IBCLC credential in 2023. The IBCLC credential is the highest credential in the field of lactation.
In addition to working as an IBCLC in private practice, I work with UNM’s College of Nursing on human lactation research, facilitate a Baby Cafe support group, and participate in a lactation journal club to stay up-to-date on current research & evidence-based practices. I am also an active member/volunteer of the New Mexico Breastfeeding Task Force, and in 2025, was a recipient of their annual Red and Green Chile Award for my service & advocacy to lactation in our state.
I live in Albuquerque, NM with my husband & children. When I’m not working, I enjoy gardening, cooking & baking, spending time outdoors, and lounging on the couch with a hot cup of tea & a book.
I look forward to meeting you and your baby!
